Summer Scholars Coordinator
Wor-Wic Community College is accepting applications for a Summer Scholars Coordinator to help the Director of CEWD Business, Technology and Youth Initiatives prepare for and coordinate the Summer Scholars program and oversee students, instructors and logistics. Pay range is $30.87 - $40.00 Hourly
Essential Duties
The following list is not intended as, nor should it be construed as, exhaustive of all responsibilities, skills or working conditions associated with this position.
- Monitors daily classroom instruction that may include as many as 25 instructors, 10-15 instructional assistants (IA), up to 300 children and 3 CEWD associates each week
- Works with staff to support students with ongoing behavior concerns; when necessary, works one-on-one with students and intervenes/mediates when a student exhibits significant behavior concerns; develops and implements short-term behavior plans to ensure the success of all students
- Evaluates quality of instruction and instructional activities and apprises the CEWD administrator as required
- Supervises the instructional assistants (IAs) during student transition times including classroom sign-in/out by parents/guardians, IA sign out/in during the lunch hour at the Hazel Center Cafe and Jordan Center Before/After-care, and end of course evaluations; ensures that the sign in/out is seamless, safe and accurate for all program participants
- Updates and manages the daily staff schedule and adapts IA support based on the needs of individual students, instructors, and special events
- Monitors student lunchroom activity and supports IAs to ensure student safety and courteous behavior throughout the lunch hour
- Provides back-up to the CEWD administrator for Summer Scholars operational matters as needed and updates daily status regarding students, instructors and parent issues
- Models and coaches instructors and IAs on appropriate behavior management strategies as needed
- Serves as liaison with parents/guardians
- Works with staff to support students who become ill or have a medical emergency while attending Summer Scholars; contacts parent/guardian and arranges for pick up or emergency medical attention as necessary
- Assists in pre-Summer Scholars planning, including providing staff support at camp expos
- Assists in interviewing and selecting Instructional Assistant (IA) staff, as well as facilitating all-staff orientation and training before Summer Scholars begins
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in education or other relevant field
- Three years of related work experience
- Preference will be given to candidates who possess a master's degree
