In addition to our starting salary of $55,000 for first-year teachers, Willis ISD has a self-funded insurance plan. This allows our district to keep premiums low while providing additional features that a regular insurance company cannot offer. Ultimately, that means our employees get to keep more of their earnings. In addition to our starting salary of $55,000 for first-year teachers, Willis ISD has access to two self-insured health plans – Plan I is a HDHP PPO connected to a Health Savings Account and Plan II is a HMH Plan. Self-insured health plans allow our district to keep premiums low while providing additional features that fully insured plans are not allowed to offer. Employees who complete an annual Health Risk Assessment with a follow-up visit at the Wellness Center receive a discount on their health insurance premium if both steps are completed by the deadline set by the district. Willis ISD sponsors an on-campus Wellness Center with a Physician Assistant and a Doctor on staff for general healthcare needs. The clinic is free to employees who are actively enrolled in one of the Willis ISD health insurance plans. Members may also receive free generic maintenance medications through the clinic that are determined to be medically necessary.
