Geneseo Program Director, Beyond the First Year
Beyond the First Year: All Inclusive Empowerment and Awareness (BFY) is a comprehensive program aimed at expanding training to students, building trust and strengthening access to services on campus to increase the effectiveness in the institution’s response to crimes of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking.
The BFY Program Director is a full time, 12-month position that reports to the Chief Diversity Officer. This is a Research Foundation for SUNY position at SUNY Geneseo funded by the Office on Violence Against Women, U.S. Department of Justice.
The position objectives include:
- Coordination and facilitation of the Coordinated Community Response (CCR) team
- Oversight and training of Student Ambassadors
- Oversight of programming and training of the student body
- Facilitation of focus groups
- Coordinate and Facilitate Prevention Education Programming, 40%
- Coordinate and facilitate prevention education and bystander intervention programs that address sexual misconduct, sexual harassment, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
- Collaborate with Residence Life Area Coordinators to implement the schedule for Title IX Tuesdays or any other programs to take place in the residence halls
- Develop, implement, expand, and enhance programs aimed towards preventing sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
- Collaborate with Campus and Community Partners, 15%-Work with campus and community partners to develop strategic plans for ongoing, comprehensive, and systemic approach to address and reduce the prevalence of sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking, as well as encourage healthy relationship behaviors
- Collaborate and build relationships with colleagues in other relevant offices and departments
- Serve as consultant to campus constituents on educational issues related to sexual misconduct
- Student Supervision and Empowerment, 20%
- Co-supervise the student intern team with Lead Intern, including recruiting, training, advising, and supervising students
- Communication and Social Media, 15%
- Obtain, develop, and distribute print and electronic educational materials or other educational programming efforts that address sexual misconduct
- Provide on-going communication to keep the campus community informed regarding the progress of sexual misconduct and intimate partner violence prevention work and related campus climate changes
- Oversee and manage of the Title IX social media and website development
- Professional Development, 10%
- Remain current on information and news pertaining to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking, as well as related prevention efforts
- Attend required OVW virtual and in-person professional development activities related to sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence and stalking, as well as prevention efforts
- Bachelor’s Degree or commensurate experience is required
- Ability to work independently, and communicate effectively and creatively through written and oral presentations
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed and have a flexible schedule
- Strong commitment to student growth and development
- Experience working with college students and/or working in higher education
- Ability to work collaboratively with and build strong working relationships with campus constituents and community partners
- Exceptional organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage schedules of large groups of students
- Ability to create programming that is accessible, inclusive, and engaging, while being sensitive to the complex nature of the subject
- Handle confidential information sensitively and appropriately
- Ability to remain neutral and unbiased towards all students involved with the Title IX Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with various technologies such as: Teams, Excel, Google Sheets, Google Drive
- Experience in higher education administration or an educational work setting
- Experience conducting programs and educational sessions on domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking
Compensation for this position:
- Annual salary is $57,250 plus fringe benefits
