Human Resources Assistant- Part Time

 

SUNY Broome Community College is seeking a temporary, part-time Human Resources Assistant. This position performs duties in general personnel administration working in a team and collaborative environment under the direct supervision of the Assistant Vice President for Human Resources & Student Finance. This position is 22.5 hours a week.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists employees with routine requests for human resources-related information including benefits, benefits eligibility, contractual issues, employee status, and appointment.
  • Works with employees regarding leaves of absence (paid and unpaid, including medical, promotional, and Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA)).
  • Supports the maintenance of employee fringe benefit programs including Health Insurance, Dental Insurance, and Flex Spending options.
  • Assists in the administration of the employee retirement benefit programs.
  • Conducts research, develops reports and recommendations in personnel-related matters including compensation, comparative salaries, benefits, staffing patterns, and review of job descriptions.
  • Makes offers of employment for new hire employee start dates and prepares corresponding paperwork including Personnel Data Records (PDR's).


Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Personnel, Business or related field is required.
  • Two (2) years' experience including academic or administrative responsibilities is required. (Preference is given to individuals with previous experience in human resources and/or affirmative action with computer and database management in an educational setting).
  • One (1) year of appropriate leadership or supervisory experience is required.


Additional Information:

The hourly rate for this position is $35.18.

Offers of employment will be conditional based upon the results of a satisfactory, required pre-employment Standard Background Check.
