10-Month Professional Position
Working August - May, Sunday - Thursday 2:00pm - 11:00pm (off June–July)
Note: Work hours differ fall and spring breaks, winter intersession and when there are no classes.
Access Services manages Kent Library’s primary user service points. The Access Services evening supervisor provides leadership in establishing and ensuring excellent student, faculty, staff and community guest user services. The evening supervisor is responsible for effective and efficient unit management and operations; including training, supervising and evaluating unit staff. The supervisor is responsible for opening, staffing, and closing the building, and for user and staff safety and security during regular and extended hours. Day-to-day operations include providing courteous, friendly user services; assisting users in finding information and lending/borrowing activities; and organizing and maintaining the Library’s circulating collections. Access Services staff may be required to work during poor weather conditions as Kent Library is an essential university service.
Primary Responsibilities
- Train, supervise and evaluate the Library Assistant IIs and student employees
- Provide excellent, courteous, friendly user services
- Ensure the safety and security of library users, resources and spaces
- Facilitate user access to library services, resources, spaces and resource sharing
- Provide nighttime reference and research assistance
- Lead and participate in special projects as requested
- Manage and maintain Kent Library’s circulating, periodicals and reserve collections
- Participate in borrowing and lending resource sharing activities
- Share responsibility for building and facilities coordination
- Create and maintain digital learning materials; such as library guides
- Serve on library and university committees
- Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum two years of work experience in a library; public services experience a plus
- Experience providing user services
- Experience with employee training or supervision
- Evidence of effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to organize work effectively and handle multiple tasks with frequent interruptions
- Demonstrated initiative, flexibility and ability to work well as a team member and individually
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Ability to lead or participate in project planning, implementation and completion
- Proficiency using computers in a work setting and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Basic understanding of resource sharing among libraries
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multicultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities

Autism Center for Diagnosis and Treatment
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct psychological testing for individuals seeking a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder under the direct supervision of a licensed psychologist, speech language pathologist, or medical doctor
- Score and write up summary reports on testing administered to clients in a professional manner
- Coordinate testing reports between psychologists, medical providers, and speech language pathologists and ensure reports are completed in a timely manner
- Provide 30 hours of client contact services per week
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, counseling, special education, or related field; Master’s degree in clinical psychology, school psychology, counseling, or related field a plus
- Coursework in psychological testing including measures of intelligence, personality, and/or psychological functioning; certification as a psychological examiner or licensure in the state of Missouri as a mental health practitioner a plus
- Experience administering psychological tests including the Wechsler and other intelligence scales, MMPI scales and/or other personality/symptom scales, and achievement scales; experience administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule a plus
- Ability to establish collaborative partnerships within the University and among regional service providers including Department of Mental Health and targeted case management agencies
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
- Demonstrated commitment to a diverse work environment, including working with multi-cultural populations and an understanding of, and sensitivity to, issues affecting women and minorities
