- Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in the appropriate area of certification
- 3.0 or higher QPA

High School Principals

To motivate, lead, and help students master skills within the Business, Computer and Information Technology field. Course content in the curriculum that the candidate will be expected to teach include: web-page design, entrepreneurship, accounting, marketing, management, college and career planning which includes budgeting, investing, taxes, personal finance, presentation software applications, resume writing and preparing for a college/job interview, business and consumer law, sales and contracts, business English/communication, spreadsheet software applications, etc. At present, the District provides comprehensive instruction in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite focusing on its application in the business world as well as uses appropriate to the students in the school setting. Additionally, will be placed on teaching software application as well as college and career planning skills.

Demonstrate knowledge of and competency in applying the fundamental concepts of business, computer, and information technology necessary for teaching at the elementary, middle and secondary levels (K-12) including:
I. Computer and information technology including:
- software applications, with an emphasis on Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Slides
- document creation, input, processing, and formatting,
- business programming applied to business problems,
- computer hardware and peripherals,
- touch keyboarding techniques,
- information system security
II. Quantitative skills and accounting including:
- computational skills and applications for analyzing and solving business and consumer problems,
- generally accepted accounting principles used in the steps of the accounting cycle for a sole proprietorship and a merchandising business,
- preparing, interpreting and analyzing financial statements,
- planning and control principles to evaluate the performance of an organization,
- applying differential analysis and present value concepts to make informed decisions,
- methods/techniques for determining payroll and taxes
- apply accounting principles using excel and automated accounting
III. Management and marketing concepts including:
- characteristics of the marketing process,
- how consumer behavior refocuses and dictates marketing decisions,
- Internet commerce as it relates to the economy,
- basic tenets of management and leadership theories,
- human relations functions
IV. Economics and personal finance including:
- consumer economics, budgeting, investing and taxes,
- financial institutions and services,
- laws affecting businesses, individuals, and families,
- contract, sales, and consumer law,
- basic features of the U. S. economy and other economic systems
- income outside of wages,
- tax calculation,
- financial and personal goal setting
V. Business communications including:
- presentation skills utilizing and accessing shared information resources via networks and/or the Internet, and Google Drive
- social, verbal, written and non-verbal communications skills in personal and professional situations across cultures,
- using technology to enhance the effectiveness of communications,
- demonstrating proficiency in written and oral communication
VI. Career planning including:
- developing skills for self awareness, career awareness research and planning,
and workplace expectations,
- role of student business organizations
- resume and letter writing,
- develop interview skills,
- post secondary research

1. Teaches skills and knowledge in business technology instruction to secondary students, using course of study adopted by the South Fayette Township School District and other appropriate learning activities.
2. Develops thorough student understanding of all components of the Microsoft Office Suite.
3. Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
4. Adapts instructional materials and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments that guide and challenge students.
5. Provides learning experiences that develop basic communication skills, using instructional technology as appropriate.
6. Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids appropriate to the interest and maturity level of students; maintains required inventory records.
7. Develops weekly lesson and instructional materials using the Understanding by Design Framework that foster and enhance learning.
8. Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
9. Differentiates instruction to adapt the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student.
10. Encourages students to think independently and to express original ideas through the utilization of real-world project based learning activities.
11. Evaluates each student's progress in basic communications skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing and research) in relation to the business education topics being taught.
12. Encourage and emphasizes writing through the use of frequent prompts and highquality opportunities for students to demonstrate a variety of writing styles; evaluates writing using holistic and summative rubrics.
13. Instructs and assists all students in conducting research and completing research papers and projects.
14. Assists in preparing, monitoring and administering the business education budget.
15. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
16. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment during class sessions, field trips, etc.
17. Evaluates students' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate and accurate records, and prepares progress reports.
18. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss individual student progress.
19. Supervises students in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
20. Works with students and other classroom teachers in coordinating entries in contests and other enrichment activities.
21. Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays, bulletin boards, and interest centers.
22. Administers or monitors group tests and/or standardized tests in accordance with the district's testing program.
23. Participates in curriculum writing and other developmental programs.
24. Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities.
25. Checks and responds to e-mail and voice mail daily.
26. Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities.
27. Demonstrates computer literacy by providing all correspondence and written documentation using the Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite.
28. Demonstrates computer literacy in using the administrative software program effectively to maintain and retrieve student information and attendance data (Power School) and to maintain student grades and performance assessments (Power Teacher) and Canvas LMS

Terms of employment are in accordance with the agreement between the South Fayette Township Board of Education and the South Fayette Education Association.

Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principals and Assistant Superintendent and communicated to the Superintendent for review.
