DUTIES:
* Supervise the elementary and secondary Special Education Coordinators, and work collaboratively with the coordinators, principals and the district leadership to provide a strong continuum of services in the schools and programs (P-21), by strengthening the capacity for all students to succeed.
* Ensure high-quality instruction and implementation of individualized educational plans (IEP) and 504 plans.
* Lead and support the professional growth of special education teachers and related service providers such as behavioral specialist, speech language pathologists and school psychologists.
* Support parent engagement and understanding of special education programs and supports.
* Oversee the Medicaid compliance process, and work proactively with families in a culturally responsive manner to support the growth and achievement of all students. Other duties as assigned.
SALARY: Highly competitive based on experience; Rush-Henrietta Administrators' contract
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must have New York State SDA or SDL certifications. This is a tenure-track position, and highly effective experience in special education teaching or a related field is required; leadership experience is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of special education law, inclusive instructional models, and the diagnostic use of pre-referral interventions (Rtl); and must be committed to culturally responsive practices. The Director will articulate a vision for inclusion that improves student outcomes, and then lead its implementation.
