Custodial Worker
The Oneonta City School District is comprised of the City of Oneonta, Town of Oneonta, and portions of the towns of Laurens, Maryland, Milford, and Davenport and spans approximately 49 square miles. Oneonta City School District has the following vacancy: Custodial Worker Custodial Workers, often referred to as Janitors or Cleaners, play a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in various facilities. Their primary responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, and organizing assigned areas, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for occupants.
Key duties and qualifications for this role include:
Cleaning and Sanitizing: Custodial Workers are responsible for sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and disinfecting floors, surfaces, and fixtures. They must also empty trash bins and replenish supplies like toilet paper and soap.
Maintenance: They identify and report maintenance needs, such as broken fixtures or safety hazards, to their supervisor.
Equipment Operation: Custodial Workers use a variety of cleaning equipment and tools, such as vacuums, buffers, and power washers.
Safety Compliance: They follow safety protocols and ensure that all cleaning products are used properly and stored securely.
Attention to Detail: Custodial Workers should pay close attention to detail, ensuring that all areas are spotless and well-maintained.
Time Management: Efficiently managing time and completing tasks within designated schedules is essential.
Physical Stamina: This role demands physical endurance as it involves standing, bending, and lifting.
Dependability: Custodial Workers must consistently perform their duties and be reliable team members.
Communication: Clear communication skills are needed to coordinate with coworkers and report issues to superiors.
Environmental Awareness: Complying with environmental regulations for waste disposal and using eco-friendly cleaning products when appropriate.
Custodial Workers contribute to a safe and pleasant environment in various settings, including schools, offices, healthcare facilities, and more. This position requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a commitment to cleanliness and safety. Full Time position, 12M with benefits. 1 year of work experience in general cleaning and/or custodial work required. As of the date of application, candidates may be required to possess a valid New York State driver's license, and must maintain license for the duration of employment, depending on the incumbent's area of assignment.
Salary: $32,635.41 prorated.
