Dean of Learning Resources - Level I
Provides leadership for all Learning Resources departments, which include the Center for Teaching and Learning (Academic Development, Instructional Technology, and Distance Education), Libraries, Reading and Writing Studios, Learning Centers, and Archives and Records Management. Engages in partnerships with relevant local, regional, statewide, and national organizations to foster networking and identify best practices. Plan and implement methods to successfully support the professional development needs of faculty and meet the academic support needs of students. Advances full access, inclusion, and integration of collections and services in the pursuit of equity and student success for all.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for the design, development, and implementation of department initiatives that align with and support the college’s mission, vision, and strategic goals.
- Establishes and tracks metrics to evaluate the progress of Learning Resources goals and objectives.
- Continually evaluate the cost effectiveness and quality of processes and operations, making suggestions for greater efficiency, cost containment, or service enhancements.
- Leads ongoing learning and development of skills of full- and part-time faculty and staff to support high-quality instruction and academic support services whenever, wherever, and however they are delivered.
- Leads Faculty Development Day (FDD) planning in collaboration with the Faculty Development Committee.
- Identify and implement evolving trends in technology and systems specific to Learning Resources departments.
- Investigate, evaluate, implement, and support high quality synchronous and asynchronous distance education technology and pedagogy.
- In collaboration with the Director of Accreditation, ensure alignment of Learning Resources departments with Higher Learning Commission accreditation standards and requirements.
- Embrace, promote, and support the use of Open Educational Resources and Open Textbooks and work with the faculty to promote their integration into Canvas.
- Represent all Learning Resources departments to the public, various employee groups, and the academic community at large.
- Serve on library consortia and college committees as appropriate. Support cultural programming and activities in alignment with the College’s Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) work.
- Assist in the planning and development of specifications for physical and online instructional facilities, e.g. creative learning spaces and a learning commons philosophy, as well as the maintenance and security of Learning Unit facilities, supplies, and equipment.
- Assure open accessibility of collections of print, media, and electronic resources in formats suitable to class, group, operational, and individual needs.
- Prepare, submit, and manage an annual budget for the division that maximizes the use of resources to advance the goals of the area in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.
Education
Master’s degree is required
Preferred Qualifications
Five years’ experience in administrative leadership at a community college, senior college or university required.
Experience with developing and supporting collaborative, cross-institutional initiatives in support of academic excellence, student success, and faculty development. An established record of effective, strong, and collaborative leadership.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must exhibit vision, initiative, enthusiasm, collaboration, and teamwork in accomplishing the responsibilities of the position. Provides leadership in planning, implementing, evaluating, and assessing initiatives under the direction of the Provost and Vice President of the Learning Unit.
Demonstrate knowledge of current trends in community college teaching and learning, including the role of the library, learning center, reading & writing studio, center for teaching and learning, and instructional technology, especially in support of synchronous and asynchronous distance education. Possess strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, and experience with decision making in a collaborative environment.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
Usual office conditions. Occasional hours beyond the normal working day, including evenings and weekends, as appropriate. Travel between campuses and to off-campus locations required. Some travel involved for liaison and professional meeting activities.
Work Hours- May be required to work occasional long and/or irregular hours which can include late night or weekends.
Salary- $108,654 - $146,955 (2022-23 salary range) Maximum salary upon new hire $108, 654 - $124,810
