Salary: $16.15/hr.

JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE: Under the direction of a certified teacher, performs a variety of classroom, general, and clerical duties related to assisting in the instruction of students; primarily due to class size.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Sixty (60) college credit hours or ability to complete DESE substitute teacher online training course preferred, not required. 
Job incumbent is required to successfully attend and document 15 hours of training during the first year of employment and AT LEAST 10 hours each year thereafter, as mandated by DESE, as a condition of continued employment.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; and the treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Able to verbally communicate, clearly and understandably, information and ideas to others.
Able to communicate information and ideas in writing to others.
Able to instruct others on how to do something.
Able to give full attention to what others are saying, effective at taking the time to understand others.
Experience - At least 18 years of age. Work experience in school setting assisting with the teaching of others preferred.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Assists with the preparation of instructional materials for students with disabilities as directed by the supervisor so that instructions are implemented in a timely matter.
Examples of work performed:
Maintains student records and data related to instruction. Duplicates materials, type or word process information, except for confidential student-related material and information (see appendix for restrictions regarding special education paraeducators). Helps to prepare computer based instructional materials.
