ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES
Instructor to teach and assist the EMS Programs Coordinator in various aspects of program development, planning and implementation of the EMT Basic, Paramedic, and EMS Associate Degree Programs. Administration of the learning process is to be accomplished in accordance with Federal regulation and standards, Florida State law, and Florida Gateway College Board Policies.
The primary responsibility of an Assistant Professor is to the student in the classroom, laboratory, and during clinical experience. All other activities must be considered secondary in importance. The Assistant Professor is expected to allocate time in a manner as to provide scheduled classroom hours and office hours during which the students may have access to the Assistant Professor. This position also maintains a close relationship with parttime faculty, and assists in program expansion and student recruitment; also assists the EMS Programs Coordinator in maintaining state and national program accreditation. Additionally, this position will assist in recruiting efforts for student in the EMS program(s).
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Emergency Medical Services or closely related field is required, though a Master’s degree in medical services or a closely related field is desirable. The Assistant Professor must have a minimum of three years full time work experience as a paramedic in the prehospital setting, completed Levels A and B instructor coursework as identified in the National Guidelines for Educating EMS Instructors or has qualified for an exemption as outlined in FAC 64J-1.0201, two years of experience teaching EMS in a fulltime or part-time capacity.
