Assistant Professor, Economics (164 days)
Administration of the learning process (teaching) is to be accomplished in accordance with Federal regulation, Florida State Law, and Florida Gateway College Board Policies. The primary responsibility of an Instructor at FGC is to the student, in the classroom or virtually. All other activities must be considered secondary in importance. The instructor is expected to allocate time in a manner as to provide scheduled classroom hours, virtual hours and office hours during which the students may have access to the Instructor.

- Uses assessment strategies (traditional and alternate) to assist the continuous development of the learner.
- Uses effective communication techniques with students and all other stakeholders.
- Engages in continuous professional quality improvement for self and school.
- Uses appropriate techniques and strategies, which promote and enhance critical, creative, and evaluative thinking capabilities of students.
- Uses teaching and learning strategies that reflect each student’s culture, learning styles, special needs, and socio-economic background.
- Adheres to Code of Ethics and Principles of Professional Conduct of the Education Profession in Florida.
- Uses an understanding of learning and human development to provide a positive learning environment, which supports the intellectual, personal, and social development of all students.
- Demonstrates knowledge and understandings of the subject matter.
- Creates and maintains positive learning environments in which students are actively engaged in learning, social interaction, cooperative learning and self-motivation.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates instruction in a variety of learning environments.
- Works with various educational professionals and other stakeholders in the continuous improvement of the educational experiences of students.

Minimum Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Ability to effectively integrate digital tools into both traditional and online learning environments. Capable of fostering a positive and productive educational atmosphere. Experience or a strong interest in delivering courses across various formats, including distance learning, online platforms, and evening sessions. Flexibility to meet diverse student needs. Exceptional skill in presenting complex concepts in a clear, organized manner. Commitment to fair and accurate assessment of student learning and retention. Competent in using essential computer applications and digital platforms relevant to the instructional environment.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
A Master’s degree in Economics, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Economics is required. Demonstrated experience in incorporating and effectively using technology to enhance work processes and outcomes.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Doctorate degree in Economics or related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Economics. College teaching experience. Ability and willingness to explore new technologies in and out of the classroom to support the learner. Willingness to explore Web based instruction, and multimedia presentational teaching technologies. Experience with examining and reporting learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL SKILLS:
Acceptable eyesight (with or without correction).
Acceptable hearing (with or without hearing aid).
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
Use of fingers.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDlTIONS:
Works inside in an office/classroom environment.
